About me

Originally from the East Los Angeles area I now live in Northern Calif. with my wife of 19 years. The open space and cool air suit me well and have subtly influenced my work. I have always gravitated towards the surreal, whether I was old enough to know what that was or not. The need to be original and unique, probably stemming from adolescence, made me seek out the weirdest and wildest things that an innocent minded kid could conjure up...uhhh, which were Hot Rods and Monsters. By high school my tastes split in 2 and parallel to the pop culture interest I had in drawing Hot Rods and Monsters, my interest in surreal imagery and the rennaisance was growing also. After gratuating from high school I took some life drawing classes at East Los Angeles colledge. I remember them asking us for a self portrait and I wasn't just gonna draw my face. So I drew the way I felt. It was then that a drawing came out that really landmarked for me a direction in the way I viewed the human figure. My mind opened up and I started getting creative with forms. I was able to add that understanding to all that I drew. I guess for me having to draw or copy what I saw was what I had already practiced in my sophmore year in high school and as important as it is to be able to do that it wasn't my goal as an artist. Abstracting with form is how I make choices with my layouts and the designs of the elements that make up the layouts themselves. Inspiration for me is internal. The work on this site is the kind of artwork I make for myself. It comes from inspiration through my faith in Jesus Christ which is internal. My artwork is the external expression of my internal inspiration.

For the artwork that was done for the show "Fallen"I started adding poems that help to describe the feelings that I have for the subject matter of each piece. For the other works there are descriptions to let you know what the image is about. I know there are a lot of artists who don't do this but the meaning of the piece is very important to me as it is the reason for the image.....anyway there it is..I hope you enjoy the work

Been a while

As a proffesional artist I've been a little bored with the current computer way of having to work these days. Every pulsing beat of the proffesional world is driving art deeper into the digital world with Zbrush, Mudbox Sketchup and of course the standards photoshop and Painter. Clients want every image photo-real..

This site is dedicated to my fine-art... BUT.. "Art" is getting lost in the proffesional world... and so trying to keep it alive I've been inspired to experiment and try to bring some "Art" back into what I do. Those of you who are professionals I know understand...anyway here are three images, a small peek...I hope you like them....

This is an image that is probably pre-mature and or late to this time of the year..I had made it for a Halloween art show that was held at Rick Bakers shop..a Year ago? No... 2 years ago....time flies by when you're  busy....anyway...this image will not be in my up-coming book of prints and so I thought I'd post it here....the original was an experiment with pastels(dry media)..which I've never really used for this kind of work. Just recent to the time of doing this piece I had gone out landscape painting with Kim Lordier and her workshop. She's an amazing..really amazing pastelist...so I had to go and see how she worked..this is the first piece I made resulting from that time......
